Agrifood systems support livelihoods, economic growth, and food security worldwide, but many of their environmental and social costs remain hidden from policy and market decisions. Impacts such as soil degradation, water pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, biodiversity loss, and poor labor conditions often go unaccounted for, making it difficult to build sustainable, equitable, and resilient food systems.
